How Dual Booting is Revolutionizing the Windows Marketplace.

When you are installing Windows XP, the installer will ask you whether you want to use format the hard drive using either NTFS or FAT32.

NTFS and FAT32 have different advantages and disadvantages.

FAT32

  1. Ability to read and write Windows files from OS X (big advantage)
  2. Less secure (FAT32 has no permissions scheme)
  3. Not able to format partitions bigger than 32 GB
  4. Able to Read/Write in OS X

NTFS

  1. Much more secure
  2. More space-efficient (extremely slight space advantage)
  3. Journaling Enabled
  4. Slightly faster
  5. Able to format partitions bigger than 32 GB
  6. Read-only in OSX
